An e-portfolio is an electronic format for learners to record their work, their achievements and goals, to reflect on their learning, and to share and be supported in this. It enables learners to represent the information in different formats and to take the information with them between institutions.

An introduction to e-portfolios by Jamin Lietze
E-portfolios have three aspects.
  • the working or process portfolio, which contains projects the student is currently working on or has recently completed. It will contain feedback and next steps for learning
  • the display or showcase portfolio, which showcases samples of the student's best work.
  • the assessment or accountability portfolio, which presents work demonstrating that the student has met specific learning goals and requirements.
These could all be on one platform or different platforms could be used for each e.g. Seesaw for the working/process portfolio and Google sites or Google Slides for the showcase & accountability portfolio.
The purpose and ownership of the e-portfolio will influence the decision on the platform for the e-portfolio.
